FRANK (FRANZ) WITTIN With family by his side on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, our beloved husband, father, and opa passed away at Poseidon Care Centre in Winnipeg, MB. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Shirley, children, Kurt, Karl (Heather) and Kimberly (Daniel), grandchildren Erik, Vanessa, Jaxson, and Mackenzie, family and friends from Germany, Saskatchewan and Manitoba as well as his dog, Buddy. Frank came to Canada and quickly adopted his new country of opportunity when he was nineteen. The majority of his career was spent working for the Winnipeg School Board as a draftsman until 1991. On his free time, he loved being outside whether it was to tend to his yard or in the great outdoors to enjoy activities like biking, canoeing, swimming, camping and cross-country skiing. Frank's other passion was music. He was a member of both the Winnipeg German choir and his church choir for many years. Travelling back to Germany to spend time with family brought him many happy memories. Much to our delight, this often meant a suitcase full of chocolate on his return! Our family would like to sincerely thank the personnel on the third floor of Poseidon Care Centre, where Frank spent the past four years. May you know that your thoughtfulness and kind words, particularly in these last weeks, have given us strength and comfort. The funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 200 Dalhousie Drive, Winnipeg, MB. Interment will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. My deepest condolences to the Wittin family. Frank was a man I greatly admired. I first met Frank as a member of Epiphany and enjoyed singing base with him in our church choir. I found Frank to be a true gentleman who was quiet, always had a smile on his face and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was a practicing Christian and Heaven will be a better place with his smile, wisdom and quiet personality. May you rest in peace! - Posted by: Ronald Smith (Epiphany Church friend and choir partner) on: Apr 10, 2016
