MARIE KATHLEEN WILKINSON It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marie on April 7, 2016, at Oakview Place, at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, and their daughters, Margaret and Kathy. Her memory will be cherished by her son Bruce (Teri); grandchildren Tyler (Amanda) and Nicole, Kyle and Sheila, and Julia (Ron); great-grandchildren Wesley, Liam, Leia and Milla; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Marie was an amazing artist who always loved sketching and painting, and was a long-time member of the St. James Art Club. Her home and those of her friends and family were always full of her paintings. She has sold many paintings, with buyers as far away as England. She was an avid curler and golfer, and a huge fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. She also loved to fish, camp, and enjoy the great outdoors, often with a furry pet by her side. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Oakview Place ExtendiCare for the loving, dedicated care they gave to Marie over the past eight years. Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Charles Parish, 320 St. Charles St., on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 7:00 p.m., followed by a reception at Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club, 940 Vimy Road (at Hamilton Ave). A family interment will take place at Chapel Lawn at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • It is with sorrow that I heard of Marie's passing. She was a lively and spirited woman who was kind to everyone she met. We need more people like Marie in this world. - Posted by: Lori Wilkinson (Step Granddaughter) on: Apr 15, 2016

  • I am saddened to learn that Aunty Marie has passed away. I will cherish the memories of my time with her. Every time that I would visit her, she would say that I was just about as tall as her. Even after I was taller than her, lol! As a child l would help in her garden. We would sit outside and 'top and tail' the green beans. I'm so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Cindy Mason (Fisette) (Great niece) on: Apr 13, 2016

  • I cannot express how sad I am to hear of Auntie Marie's passing. She always liked to brag that she and I were both born on Dec.30 . Cindy and I went to see her last summer, but, she was asleep. I am sorry that I did not get to talk to her then. I am going to miss her terribly. My sympathy to all of you. - Posted by: Patricia fisette (Niece) on: Apr 12, 2016
