ANNE HILDEBRAND Anne Hildebrand, 86, died on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Concordia Place, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with her husband of 65 years and family at her side. Born on March 6, 1930, in Main Centre, Saskatchewan, Anne spent her childhood on the prairies south of Winnipeg, along with her seven siblings and her parents, John and Anna (Falk) Schellenberg. In 1950, she married George Hildebrand, the son of neighbouring farmers. She was baptized into the Christian faith as a teenager in the Mennonite Brethren Church in Niverville, where she and George raised their children, after moving from the farm in 1967. Anne's love of life, drive and competence, and ease in attracting friends were evident to all who knew her, as were her strength, faith and courage through challenging times. Anne was predeceased by her son Gary, her sister Katie and her brother Dave. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband George; sons, Don (Judy), Dale (Marlene) and Ray (Danielle); daughter Joyce (Cory); daughter-in-law Bernice; 13 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends. The funeral will take place on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastview Community Church, 3500 De Vries Ave., East Saint Paul, Manitoba. Interment in Sunnyside Cemetery.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I'm sorry I cannot come to the service today. May you know the safety of Jesus' loving arms of comfort as you celebrate Anne's life and meet with family and friends. I love you so much! - Posted by: Lynette Ager (Niece) on: Apr 15, 2016

  • I have such good memories of their place in Niverville.....always a buzz of wonderful family activity and sharing. Great food and the most wonderful hospitality. And the family boxing day games.....she and her sisters made us laugh for hours! She will be sadly missed but what a gift for her to be with her son and her siblings that passed before her. Until we meet again Auntie Anne..... - Posted by: Jen Allan (Niece ) on: Apr 14, 2016

  • A lifetime ago (1970) Anne and George took me into their home in Niverville and gave me shelter even with their own 5 children still at home. I grew to love Anne over the few months I spent with them and have enjoyed her company on several occassions since. We liked eachothers company even though there was a somewhat large age difference and I was playing hippie in those early days. I will miss her greatly and send my sincere condolences to George, Don, Joyce, Dale and Ray. I am not a religious person but I hope her faith serves her well and she is truly home. - Posted by: Bob Wiens (Cousin/friend) on: Apr 14, 2016

  • Anne was always first in line when it came to fun and games,(at which she usually won). She was also first in line when guests needed a place to call home away from home.Hospitality to a fault! We have already missed her zest for life the last few years and will continue missing her presence in our family. May God rest her soul and body.My condolence with George and family. - Posted by: Hildegard Hildebrand (Sister-in-law) on: Apr 13, 2016
