PARASKEVI VOULA VERGOULIAS It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paraskevi Voula Vergoulias, aged 85, with her family by her side, on Monday, April 11, 2016, at Grace Hospital. She is survived by her two children, Chrysoula Kotoulas and George Vergoulias; her son-in-law Konstantinos Gus Kotoulas; her five grandchildren, Sotirios, Voula and Nicholas Kotoulas, and Nicholas and Natalie Vergoulias; her sister Dina Syloyistou and her cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family and close friends. Voula was born on June 4, 1930 in Kerassia, Pelion, Greece to Chrysoula Vergou and Konstantinos Vlahavas. She lived through the Second World War, the Civil War and famine. She trained as a nurse at the sanatorium at Pelion, where she met her late husband Nikolaos Vergoulias. She and her husband moved to Winnipeg in 1982 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Voula loved to host beautiful dinners that always ended in song and dance. She doted on her children and grandchildren. She was a strong woman whose love knew no bounds. Our family extends our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Grace Hospital for their excellent care. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, followed by a reception for family and friends at The Fort Garry Hotel, 222 Broadway.
