RAYMOND WIEBE September 10, 1937 - April 13, 2016 Peacefully, in the early morning of April 13, 2016, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease, Dad passed away at 78 years of age. Dad will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Eva Wiebe; his sons Allan (Liz), Stan (Cristina), Lindsay (Sharla); grandchildren Michael, Sarah, Kathy, Tracy, Troy, Amy and Emma; sisters Kay (Bill) and Susie, and by his many friends and extended family. Dad was predeceased by his parents John P. S. and Margaret Wiebe, his brother Jake, and sister Mary (Raymond). Dad was born in Altona, Manitoba and lived in the area until moving to Winnipeg as a young, 18 year old man. Dad first worked for the Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation and later in 1960 for the T. Eaton Company where he spent the next 33 years until his retirement in 1993. In 1958 Dad married the love of his life, Eva Gerbrandt, and they were lucky enough to have 57 years together. Dad was a devoted and loving husband and father and would best be described as a quiet, gentle, witty man of unshakeable faith. Dad never complained and loved to smile and to laugh, almost as much as he loved his sports. Dad didn't measure years in months or weeks but in baseball, football and hockey seasons. Dad loved gospel and country music, traveling, spending time with family and bowling. For the last eight years of his life Dad battled with Alzheimer's Disease and spent the last 30 months at Oakview Place. We are grateful to the staff of Oakview who cared for Dad and for the support of the new friends Mom and Dad made at the home. Funeral service will be held Monday, April 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford Street with viewing prior to the service. Interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A heartfelt thank you to all of our family and friends who contributed to and made Dad's life so fulfilling and meaningful. In lieu of flowers we invite you to make donations to the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).
