KEN ATTWOOD 1937 - 2016 Ken Attwood passed away with his loving family by his side. He was a devoted husband, father and granddad. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He leaves behind his wife Patricia, son Stuart (Michele), daughter Sharon (Dan) and his greatest joys in life, his grandsons Colton and Austin. He was predeceased by his infant son Marc. Born in London, England and evacuated during the Second World War to Devon. Ken worked from a young age as a labourer as they rebuilt their lives. He lived with his family including eight loving sisters. He entered military service as a young man and served in the British Army. He married Patricia in 1962 and with two small children moved to Canada in 1968 to work for INCO Thompson, MB. After a long career he retired to Winnipeg. Ken was grateful to receive the gift of life in 2004 with a transplant. Ken had a natural, truthful quality, loved a good laugh and was a sentimental man. He had a love for the outdoors, golfing, fishing, hunting, birdwatching and his many collections. A Celebration of Ken's life will be held on Sunday, April 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, Winnipeg. Many thanks to Dr. Padeanu for his years of care and concern. Donations may be made in Ken's memory to The Children's Wish Foundation. • I have been trying to get in contact with Ken's wife since his passing and have been unsuccessful on each search. Could you pass my phone and email on to Patricia or Pat. Thx! - Posted by: Daryl and Lorenda Bender (Friends from living in Thompson Manitoba) on: May 17, 2019

  • Dear Pat and family: Please accept our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences on hearing of Ken's recent passing. We were in Toronto at the time and have only just heard the sad news. We've known you both forever it seems, certainly since 1968 when we all arrived together in Thompson from England to work for INCO. We had all left our families in England to seek a better life here in Canada. Having no family over here to help us adapt to our new way of life, we turned to our new-found Thompson friends from other countries, such as yourselves. Over time, friends became family, and have remained so to this day. We have many happy memories of you both and will remember them forever. Ken will be especially remembered to us both as a very dear friend with a lovely sense of humor, a wonderful smile and a willingness to help in any way that he could. He will be missed by so many people, not least by ourselves. Your dearest friends, Barry and Tricia Hadfield, Winnipeg. - Posted by: Barry and Tricia Hadfield (Dear friends) on: May 04, 2016

  • Ken was a great man. He loved to joke around and was proud of his family. I met Pat and Ken at Tim Horton s where a lot of us met and became friends. I got to know Ken and Pat when they asked me to help, them pick out a PC and printer and set it up. I saw such a love of Pat from Ken and she loved him deeply too Ken was a joker when I was working on the PC and we had many laughs. He always talked about his family He pointed out the RCMP items he had in a frame in their office. " that's from my son in law " he would tell me. He was very proud of his King Fisher bird collection. He found it funny that I loved the King Fisher bird and we would go through the books and items he had on the bird. As his health was up and down his spirit and zest was always there. Pat, Ken and I would have tea and biscuits every time I visited. He would tease Pat and say " make his tea proper". Ken was a great man and friend. May God Bless you and keep you. You'll be missed my friend. Rest in Peace , oh King Fisher! Pat and family, my condolences to all of you. I'm blessed Pat to have you let me work with you and Ken. May God keep and Bless you all during this time. Your Friend, Greg Braun - Posted by: Greg Braun (Friend) on: Apr 16, 2016
