VERNON DUKE 1927 - 2016 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Vern Duke. He leaves his wife of 62 years Audrey, daughter Karen, and son Brian (Kathy), grandchildren Michael (Kathy Downs) and Courtney (Will Gault) and great granddaughter Summer with whom he was smitten. Dad was our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and hero. Not a day will pass that he won't be in our hearts and thoughts. Dad was predeceased by his parents Charles and Laurel and brother Ron. He leaves to cherish his memory, his sister Barbara Romano and brother Peter, along with many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. We love you always and forever "Gramps". We will truly miss seeing Vernon walking by our window almost every day. Bob would often run out to talk to him and enjoy his vibrant company and comments. Truly a man of great character and charm. I could never say enough about what a good man he was! He always had a kind word and spoke in public with confidence and poise. He was an avid Goldeyes fan, used to see him at the games.
