KAREN ELAINE DONAGHEY (July 16, 1951 - April 16, 2016) After a short battle with cancer, Karen passed away peacefully at Grace Hospice with family at her side. Karen, daughter of Jim and Esther Burgess, grew up on Stuart Ave. in North Kildonan. She later met and married Brian Donaghey (1972). She leaves to grieve son Christopher (Victoria); and grandsons, Liam and Dylan; daughter Valerie (Henrik); and grandsons, Kieran and Tristan; sister Merrilee Bovenmyer (Samuel); sister-in-law Karen Leitch (Nicholas); her cousin Kathleen (Ken) and many nieces and nephews. Karen, a cashier for many years with Canada Safeway and later Rona, spent her free time with family travelling or fishing at her cottage on Long Lake. Even while sick she reflected on her last trip to the cottage where she had a fishing derby with her husband and her grandchildren Liam and Dylan. She and Liam easily beat Dylan and grandpa. In lieu of Flowers a contribution to CancerCare Manitoba would be appreciated. Service to be held at Glen Eden at 2:00 p.m. April 27th, 2016. Karen was a very caring a thoughtful person. I remember her coming to class even when her back was sore to relieve the pain it would cause her.
