Date of Passing: Apr 20, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIRGINIA YOUNG It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Virginia Young on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. We however take solace in knowing that her spirit is now free. Mom is survived by her children Rick (Rhonda), Anne and Robert (Connie), and extended family. Mom, an only child, was born in Dauphin June 25, 1928, to Winnifred and Michael Zworon. She attended Brandon College and the University of Manitoba, graduating with a Bachelor of Social Work in 1948. Mom and Dad were married September 16, 1950 and celebrated 48 years together until Dad's sudden death April 10, 1999. Mom most importantly was a dedicated, nurturing and loving wife and mother. We feel forever grateful to have had her mentor and guide us throughout our lives. She was bright and articulate; caring and compassionate; sensitive and giving; artistic and creative. Her beautiful smile which lit up any room she entered will be fondly remembered and cherished. Over the years, Mom and Dad had unique opportunities to travel worldwide, along the way, forging many close relationships and sharing diverse experiences wherever they went. Some of Mom's favourite destinations included the Netherlands, Great Britain and Mexico. Mom possessed a special bond with her Dauphin girlfriends, who were an important part of her life for over 80 years. A private gathering to celebrate Mom's life will be held at a later date. Much gratitude is extended to Home Instead Senior Care and the many outstanding companions who became an important part of her life over the past six years. Many thanks to the staff at the Riverview Health Centre, particularly her angels. Finally, a special thank you to Reverend Teresa Moysey (Harrow United Church) and Kwok Choy (Dignity Memorial) for their compassion. In honour of Mom, donations may be made to your choice of The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, the Alzheimer Society Manitoba, or Harrow United Church. My condolences, Anne. Your mother is very proud of you for many things but especially for the care you provided for her over the last many years. She held you and cared for you at the start of your life and you held her and cared for her at the end of her life. A perfect circle. It's time for you to take care of yourself.
