MERCIL SOLOMON 1951 - 2016 It is with great sadness we announce Mercil Solomon passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 due to a heart attack. Mercil was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Our memories of Mercil will live on with love and admiration in his loving wife Alexandra "Sandra", sons Steven and Michael, and granddaughter Hannah. Mercil was very well respected by all his friends and family as he gave unconditionally without ever seeking credit or reward. He was always available to shovel snow, cut grass, fix cars, or lend a hand in any ordeal. He was truly a man for others. His favorite past-times were hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with family and friends. Mercil was a dedicated firefighter, with 32 years of service, always taking pride in his work and retired in 2007 as a respected captain. He was a true hero in everything he did, and didn't hesitate to put himself in harm's way for the safety of others. His compassion was beyond belief, strength unsurpassed, dedication unrivalled, and a greater father there will never be. A strong man with a big heart; he will be deeply missed by all those that had the privilege of knowing such a wonderful man. Mercil left us suddenly, but peacefully, with an expression of true content on his face. As per Mercil's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service will be held. In lieu of flowers donations in Mercil's name may be made to the Firefighters Burn Fund Inc., 83 Garry St., Winnipeg MB, R3C 4J9. Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 204-338-7111

Our sincere heartfelt condolences to Mercil's family. We are so glad we had a short visit just last fall. Otherwise our meetings were few and far between in more recent years. However, when we were kids, we spent alot of quality time together. Those are fond memories of my gentle and kind cousin Mercil.
