IRENE LABUN Irene Labun was born on September 29, 1940. Her early years were on a farm near Sperling. The family then moved to North Kildonan when she was nine. There she grew up enjoying the vibrant social life in their neighbourhood. She was an easygoing child who loved skating with friends. Early on she developed a heart for helping people. In keeping with her character, she decided on a career as a nurse. On April 23, 2016, after a brief, but severe illness she passed away peacefully in St. Boniface Hospital, back where she was born. She leaves to mourn her passing, her father, Daniel Koop; husband Allan Labun; daughter Theresa and James Pankratz with granddaughter Georgia; daughter Donna and Scott Kroeker with grandchildren Anna, Jordan and Micah; son Jon and Nina Labun with grandsons Willem, Marcus and Peter; nine brothers and sisters; and a host of relatives and friends. We mourn but not as those who have no hope. The funeral service will be held at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Rd. on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Viewing at the church prior to the service.
