Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONARD ZAKOWICH Peacefully, on Friday, April 22, 2016, at Percy E. Moore Hospital, in Hodgson, Manitoba, Leonard Zakowich, aged 75 years, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away. Leonard was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Marlene Zakowich (nee Hrabec); son Lane; parents, Mathew and Rose; sister Lorraine and niece Dale. He leaves to cherish in his memory his children; Melody (Fred), Lori (Ashot), Michael (Tammy); grandchildren, Cody, Madison, Brittany, Mikayla, Matthew; great-grandson Grayson; brother Richard (Laurice); and mother-in-law Lydia, as well as other nieces, nephews and friends and family. In his early years, Leonard worked at the Fort Garry Hotel as a pastry chef, his pie crust recipe went on to be a family favourite. He also worked at Co-op Dairies for several years as a milk and ice cream truck driver. He later went to work and retire from the Winnipeg School Division #1 after 25 years. After retiring, Leonard and Marlene made a move to a much quieter life in Arborg, Manitoba. Leonard was a kind-hearted man with a great sense of humour. Leonard enjoyed: gardening, collecting sports cards, hockey pins, fishing, hunting and watching the Toronto Blue Jays play baseball. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will take place at a later date.
