STEFAN (STEBBI) WILLIAM BJORNSON It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stefan, on April 27, 2016, at the Arborg and District Health Centre. Stefan will be dearly missed by his son, Jeff (Liz); daughters, Tammy (Danny) Einarson and Serena Bjornson; grandchildren, Hogan, Hannah (Ryan) and Amber Bjornson, Tanner and Halley Einarson; sister, brothers, and in-laws, Peggy (Barry) Gudmundson, Buddy (Dorothy) Bjornson, Irvin (Shelly) Bjornson, Kathy Bjornson and Connie Bardarson, numerous nieces and nephews whom he adored and special pal, Lucky. He was predeceased by his wife, Dolores, mother and father, Anna and Halli Bjornson, brother Halli, sister Sylvia, niece Beverley, brother-in-law, Gordon Bardarson, and parents-in-law, Nellie and Edgar Bardarson. Dad was born on March 12, 1941, on the family homestead of Skalholt. He grew up and graduated high school in Riverton, and took numerous courses at college in Winnipeg. In 1965, he married the love of his life, Dolores, and they raised their family west of Riverton. Dad worked in many industries such as mining in Thompson, heavy duty mechanics with Riverton Boat Works, Erickson Construction in Riverton and ATA Construction in Norman Wells and Hay River. He also co-owned B&B Service garage in Riverton. He started farming in the 1970s, and together with Mom, grew the farm considerably until retiring in the 2000s. Dad didn't know how to retire. He helped out other farmers, continued to fix and rebuild lawnmowers, and even when wintering in Mission, Texas, kept busy fixing golf carts, computers, and helping out friends in the park. Dad was known for his soft spot for animals, funny jokes, pranks, tireless work ethic, strong and helpful hands, kind demeanor, love of fishing and superior intelligence. He showed us what true love is all about and we took comfort knowing he was going to join Mom after being apart for over 10 months. The family would like to thank Shelly for her tireless support, Les Robinson for his continued friendship, as well as all friends and family who visited, brought food, treats, and coffee over to show support. A service will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 2:30 p.m., at the Riverton Community Hall. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Donations can be made, in lieu of flowers, to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. MacKenzie Funeral Home Arborg 204-467-2525 info@mackenziefh.com
