Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAURA ANN BLAKLEY BROUWER Laura Ann Blakley Brouwer, loving daughter, wife, mother and sister, passed away suddenly on April 26, 2016 at the age of 31. Laura was a larger-than-life, enthusiastic person who touched the lives of many. She never hesitated to reach out to others, radiating a caring and warm demeanour that made others feel at ease. She was born in Minneapolis, grew up in Michigan and moved to Winnipeg with her parents in 1997. She completed middle school at River West Park School and high school at Oak Park. She was active in extracurricular activities such as music, playing the flute, tenor saxophone and bassoon. She attended the University of Manitoba and wrote for The Manitoban. She married Antony Brouwer seven years ago and moved with him to Somerset, Manitoba, where she worked as the school librarian and coached basketball. Laura told those around her how blessed she was to have found happiness in her life, marriage, and the birth of her son John. She was a dedicated mother, and the three short weeks she had with her son were the best of her life. She is survived by her husband Antony Brouwer, baby son Glijnn John Michael Brouwer, parents Joan and Brian Blakley, brothers David and Christopher Blakley, Antony's parents Maureen and Glen Brouwer, and brothers-in-law Ryan and Kevin Brouwer. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Brebeuf Parish, 1707 John Brebeuf Place, Winnipeg, MB, with Fr. Mark Tarrant presiding. Viewing will be prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. Cremation will follow. A time to celebrate and share memories of Laura, will take place Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Seasons Funeral Chapel, 576 Balsam Crescent in OakBank, MB. seasonsfunerals.ca
