Born: Feb 10, 1956
Date of Passing: May 04, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE CURTIS February 10, 1956 - May 4, 2016 Our devoted Mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016. Cathy will be lovingly remembered by children, Scott (Chantale), Janelle (Michael), and Paul; granddaughter, Olivia; brothers, Harry (Kerry) and Jason (Wendy); sister Nancy (Geoff), father of children, Trevor; mother Theresa; as well as extended family members. Cathy was predeceased by her father, Jacob Voogt. Cathy grew up on a dairy farm in Stonewall, Manitoba. This upbringing cultivated her hard work ethic, love for nature and gardening. Many fond memories were created with her siblings, cousins and friends at the farm. Cathy moved on to live in Brandon and Swan River, but spent most of her adult life in Winnipeg. Cathy was a simple, gentle, kind-hearted woman who was strongly grounded in her faith. She spent many Sunday's volunteering and attending service at Grant Memorial Baptist Church. After being a stay at home mom, she was employed at SAAN stores head office for over 10 years. It was mom's true calling, when later in life she worked at Grant Memorial Baptist Church in children's ministries. Cathy's biggest role however was being a mother to her three children, Scott, Janelle and Paul. She was fully engaged in their lives whether it was soccer practice, homework, play dates or sick days. She was involved in the many activities and interests of her children because she wanted to bring them the most joy possible. She always made family road trips and camping expeditions memorable and heartfelt. Whenever we did things as a family, Cathy gave the occasion a great sense of togetherness and emphasized the importance of quality time to laugh, be close and have fun. Cathy was elated to meet her first grandchild last September and was able to be a part of many precious moments with her. Cathy will be missed tremendously and will be remembered for her compassionate heart and selfless and giving ways. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Grant Memorial Baptist Church, 877 Wilkes Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cathy's memory to Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba, 4 Fort Street, Winnipeg R3C 1C4. Our deepest sympathy in the passing of your Mother. We had the privilege of attending their wedding, unfortunately as life is, were unable to keep in close touch with the family. May your memories and your strength of love hold you all together. Thinking of you. Gordon & Wreatha Curtis - Posted by: Gordon & Wreatha Curtis (Cousin of Trevor's) on: May 11, 2016

I am so sorry for your loss. Cathy was a beautiful teenage girl, with a quick, sly sense of humor. She surrounded herself with a group of close girl friends but was always open to including the new girl. I remember her so clearly in a green shirt blouse, blue jeans, blond shag hair cut, leaning out of her desk, laughing at someone's story. To me, she will be forever young. - Posted by: Roberta Brischke (nee Kowalski) (High School friend) on: May 09, 2016
