MATILDA ROSE THORSTEINSON (nee EGESZ) August 6, 1941 - May 8, 2016 It is with heavy hearts we regretfully announce the passing of our mother, Matilda Rose, on May 8, 2016. Mom was born and raised on the family farm in Howardville, north of Riverton, MB. The youngest daughter of Paul and Elizabeth, Mom often recalled numerous adventures with her siblings on the farm and attending the one-room school, east of the family homestead. The Egesz's, being one of the few Hungarian families in the area, developed friendships with their Icelandic neighbours. Mom continued her high-school education in Riverton, where she met the love of her life, Kenny. She will be fondly remembered by all her children, Myles (Diana), Wendy (Dan), Mark and Trevor (Larissa); grandchildren, Christopher, Brett, Maverick, Morgan, Hannah and Sean. She is survived by her sister Margaret (Leonard) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Egesz and Judith Sigurdson; brothers-in-law, Raymond Magnusson, Brian Thorsteinson (Karen) and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins who adored Aunty Matilda. She is predeceased by her husband Kenneth Thorsteinson; parents, Paul and Elizabeth; brothers, Paul and Andrew Egesz; and sister Mary Magnusson; in-laws, Chris and Ingibjorg; and brothers-in-law, Russell Thorsteinson and Victor Sigurdson. Funeral services being held at Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church, Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with reception to follow at the Riverton Hall.
