Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHIE NACHTIGALL (nee ROSMUS) January 5, 1943 - May 5, 2016 It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, sister and Nanny. Stephie passed away peacefully on the morning of May 5, 2016 at the age of 73. Taken too soon, she will be missed deeply by her loving husband of 49 years, Carl, who will remember her forever as his one and only sweetheart. Also left to mourn are her daughter Karen (Kent), son Rodney (Carmen) and son Jason (Sarah); grandchildren Erika, Halla, Callie-Rae, Mackenna, Danielle, Mark, Kristine, and Regan; sisters Pat (Albert), Elsie, Barbara (Gus), brother Jerry (Dorene) and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Mary Rosmus. Stephie loved her family, and enjoyed seeing her children and grandchildren excel at everything they chose to do. She was proud of all of their accomplishments. She loved to cook and bake, and spent hours outdoors tending to her meticulous lawn and garden. She enjoyed travelling to visit family and friends, and long drives over the wide-open prairies. Mom grew up in Cooks Creek, Manitoba and cherished her childhood memories, especially her dogs Shep 1 and Shep 2, horseback riding, and dancing a polka with friends and family. We would like to thank the staff at Holy Family Nursing Home for everything they did to help Stephie over the past six months, and for welcoming her into their family. And special thanks to her friend Agnes at Holy Family who gave her dignity and support when she needed it the most. Stephie's life will be celebrated on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stephie's memory may be made to Holy Family Nursing Home, c/o Lubov SSMI Foundation, 1085 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB, R2W 3S1. Sincerest and heartfelt condolences to Onkel Carl and cousins Karen, Rodney, and Jason, and their families. These are very hard times but family is strong: take comfort knowing that Stephie’s hardships are no more. We, the “kids”, are all blessed with wonderful lives because of the love, determination, and toil of our parents. They worked tirelessly and without complaint and always made sure that their children came first. My memories of your Mom (and your Dad) are filled with images and replays of a person overjoyed to be around their children (especially Christmas Eve at Opa’s 374 Inglewood home). And I have one memory in particular of a day trip to the Rosmus farmstead when I was perhaps 11 or 12: your Mom standing with me in a corn field and showing me (the walking definition of a city-slicker) how to pick and shuck an ear of corn; your Mom chasing away that one nasty rooster who inexplicably had an instant and aggressive dislike towards me (the farm dog tried to intervene on my behalf but that was one tough bird so your Mom stepped in); and then the dinner feast with your Mom and Grandmother serving me pierogis (or what I remember were pierogis ... and they were delicious!!!) and steaming corn of the cob with farm fresh butter (I cannot remember ever having any better) – brings tears to my eyes every time I replay this. I also look back to the albeit too quick visit that I had with your Mom and Dad over my weekend trip to Winnipeg back in January and how I was struck with the warmth and love that the two of them still had for each other. I am honored and humbled to be able to call Stephie my Tante (and your Dad my Onkel). Until we meet again ... Rolf Abt and family - Posted by: Rolf Abt (Nephew) on: May 14, 2016
