MERLYN AMELIA LUCE (MCGILL) It is with deep regret that we announce the sudden passing of Merlyn Amelia Luce at Country Meadows Personal Care Home in Neepawa, MB on May 8, 2016 at the age of 91. Left to cherish Merlyn's memory are her loving family, brother Clifford, her children Melissa (Rick), Mark (Linda) Frederick, and Thomas (Cindy), as well as her grandchildren Evan and Sean. Merlyn was predeceased by her husband Fred, daughter Lesley, sisters Doreen, Jeanetta, and her brother William. Merlyn was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister and friend. She was born in Winnipeg on March 1, 1925. Merlyn spent her entire life in Winnipeg, she married Fred in 1947, and enjoyed over 65 years of marriage, together they raised five children. Merlyn was devoted to her family and friends right until the end. She also had some hobbies such as knitting, playing bridge with her girlfriends, and in her younger days annual trips to Vegas with Fred. She took up golf later in life and enjoyed many years as a member playing at the Assiniboine Golf course, she got pretty good at it, almost beat Fred at times. Merlyn had a strong faith and a will to live, she is a cancer survivor, survived heart surgery and battled diabetes for over 40 years. Our family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Oak View Extended Care (3rd floor) and the Country Meadows Personal Care Home for their outstanding care they provided Merlyn. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the charity of one's choice. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Merlyn was a kind and generous neighbour to our family. She was someone my mother could always count on for support and friendship, never more so than in the last several years when they were the last of the "old guard" on Ainslie Street. My thoughts are with your family at this sad time. - Posted by: Maureen MacDonald (Neighbour) on: May 18, 2016
