BETTY MARGARET WINGFIELD (nee STREETER) Betty was born at Horsham, Sussex, England March 5, 1921. She was predeceased by her father Frederick Streeter and her mother Beatrice and husbands James Wingfield and Harold Wingfield. She leaves to mourn her sister Dorothy, sons Colin (Judith), Ian (Alda), daughter Lorraine Montague (Ray), grandsons Chris (Tara), Geoffrey (Terry), Kieren (Karen), Sean (Jemma), granddaughter Alexandra Froese (Colin) and great-grandchildren Madelaine, Mitchell, London, Kellan and Olivia. Betty grew up and attended school in Morden, Surrey, England. She married James, a Canadian soldier, in 1941. Betty came to Canada as a war bride in June 1946 and settled in Winnipeg. Following the death of James in 1952 she remarried. She lived most of her life in the St. Vital area. She was an active member of St. Vital legion and was involved annually in their poppy campaigns. She enjoyed swimming at the Y, gardening, reading and knitting. She loved animals, particularly dogs. A memorial service will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery) at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Private interment will follow at St. Vital cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 9Z0.
