JUDITH (JUDI) ROMANI (nee CARPENTER) September 19, 1946 - May 10, 2016 After a short, courageous and dignified battle with illness, it is with sad hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, as she wanted with her family by her side. She is predeceased by her parents, Alexina and William Carpenter. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 49 years, Aldo; her children, David, Michael and Sandra; grandchildren, Aidan, Darien, Isabella and Tristan; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Liz Carpenter; brother-in-law Emilio Romani; and niece and nephews, Jenelle, Donald and Jonathon, in addition to many close friends that were like family to her. Judi was born and raised in Winnipeg, and this is where she chose to marry the love of her life, Aldo and to raise their boys, David and Michael. Judi enjoyed travelling, and was fortunate enough to have explored many different countries and cultures, but always enjoyed coming home to her family and friends, and her beloved Winnipeg. She could always be heard defending Winnipeg in her travels, telling people that this was the best place on earth to live. As a child, Judi spent most of her summers in a tent cottage at Grand Beach with her mom and granny. In 1970, the family purchased their own cottage, where she and Aldo were fortunate enough to allow their boys to follow in her footsteps and repeated tradition. They spent many hours playing board games and cards on the porch - this continued for many years and later expanded to include daughters-in-law and grandchildren. She could always be counted on - whether you needed life advice, laughter or just a strong hug - she was always willing to give what she had. She touched the lives of anyone who had the chance to know her, and if it wasn't evident before, it became clearly evident in her final days. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Judi's mantra was simple: Love your family, make the best of bad situations, take care of yourself and most of all, smile. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. My condolences to Aldo and the family. I'm so very sorry to hear Judi has passed away. I met Judi through the St. Norbert Personal Care Home where I companioned with a family member of hers. I very much enjoyed talking with her! Such a kind-hearted, beautiful, and friendly lady! "Always on your mind, forever in your heart!" - Posted by: Roberta Witt () on: May 27, 2016

I am so sorry to hear of Judy's passing. My fondest memory of her was at Champlain community club, sitting at a table collecting lesson money for our tap dance classes and also helping with the dance recitals at Nelson McIntyre Collegiate. She was always so cheerful. I am praying for you and your family Aldo. - Posted by: Laurie Lyss (friend) on: May 24, 2016

Well now where could I start, Judy came into my life via Grand Beach Cottage Owners Association some 20 plus years ago. She volunteered enthusiastically and without hesitation in so many capacities. She was most known for her endless work getting our memorial bench program up and running, probably the best program in all of Manitoba. I am so honored and proud to have met her, worked side by side with her, and saw the rewards of her efforts grace the Grand Beach Provincial Park. She was truly a "LEGEND" of Grand Beach. It is difficult to put in words the grief the family must be experiencing, my thoughts and prayers go out to the entire extended family. - Posted by: terry neplyk (friend) on: May 16, 2016

Yes she will be missed. We would, pass her cottage on the way to the lake and she always said hello with a big smile. I did have some dealings with her when we bought a memorial bench. I can,t express what the program means to us and it was so much work for her and you would never hear a complaint always so gracious to help. When she explained how it all started we were glad she wanted to share that story with us. Judy and Aldo received the legends award and they were very deserving of it. The community club changed in huge directions with their help. We always think of you after you sold the cottage as I remember you telling me you had planted a tree for each grandchild when they were born. Really nice memories.our sympathy to the whole family.
