TINA SPENCER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Spencer, peacefully after a long illness, on May 15, 2016 at the Rest Haven Nursing Home, Steinbach, MB. Tina is survived by her husband Albert, daughter Carol, son David, brother Willi, and sisters Trudy, Mary and Margaret. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur, son Robert, sister Sarah, and brother Abe. Tina was born in St. Joseph, Manitoba on January 25, 1928. She attended school in Letellier before moving with her family to Clarkleigh. It was there that she met her husband Arthur. They were married in 1947. They raised their family starting with the birth of Robert in Clarkleigh in 1948. After moving to Lundar, their son David was born in 1951 and daughter Carol in 1954. Besides being a homemaker Tina also helped in the running of the farm and on occasion would work in town (post office and bakery). During the 1980s, the farm was sold and she and Arthur retired to the Steinbach area which was the home of many of Tina's relatives. Tina was most fond of having company over and visiting others. She was a wonderful cook and baker and anyone visiting would be treated to a delicious lunch as well as refills from the coffee pot. And every year Tina could be relied upon to win a bounty of ribbons at the Lundar fair for her baking. In the community, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered to help out behind the counter at all Lundar hockey games. She also took up the sport of curling and even after she gave up playing herself she could be found in front of the television watching all of the curling matches. The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Highway 52 West, Steinbach, MB. Interment to follow at Clarkleigh Cemetery at a later date. Should friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made to Riverview Health Centre, One Morley Place, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 2P4. Special thanks to the staff of Rest Haven Nursing Home for the wonderful care mother received. Arrangements by Birchwood Funeral Chapel 1-204-346-1030 or 1-888-454-1030
