Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Sorry to hear the news. I worked with Jo at Gillam School and she was always so kind and supportive. When we first arrived in Gillam, she asked if we wanted to come for dinner and then after, visit the town dump. (!!!) We had the best evening watching the bears. - Posted by: Joy Auriat (former co-worker) on: May 24, 2016

  • Our condolences, and prayers. Many happy memories partying with you and Bert. - Posted by: Ed and Kathy Pauch (Friends) on: May 21, 2016

  • Jo and Dennis were the first couple we met when we moved to Gillam. We fast became friends and shared many dinners and "Thompson Holidays" as Dennis and Bob shared mechanics and vehicles and Jo and I shared educational ideas, child rearing tips, life aspirations. Because Jo was so quiet and unassuming, no one really knew what a state of the art educator she was (except me!!). She and I worked at new educational practices, taught Girl Guides to sew and cook, camped with the bears and guides at Landing Lake, and shared in Bible Study weekly. After we both moved on from Gillam, we kept in touch over time and space and whenever we met for lunch in Winnipeg, it was as if we'd only seen each other yesterday. I know that when we meet again, nothing will change. Jo is the strongest woman I know, both in daily stresses, and in her walk with God. She is not gone, but will always be amongst us. This I know. Thanks Jo! It's been a slice! - Posted by: Bob and Linda Dyck (Good Friends) on: May 21, 2016

  • Jo was a very special person, a beautiful soul. She had a strong faith that helped her endure so much in her valiant struggle with cancer. She was more like a sister and friend to me than a sister in law and I loved her dearly. She is at peace now and will join the saints who have left this earthly world. I'm sure her Mom and Dad and brother Cyril will greet her at Heavens Gate. So long Jo until we meet again. Love Shirl - Posted by: Shirley Berrington (Sister In Law) on: May 21, 2016
