ROSA SANTORO (nee MISSALINO) September 28, 1936 May 23, 2016 It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Rosa Santoro on May 23, 2016. Rosa was born in Villarosa, Sicily. She immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada in 1959 where she met her loving husband of 54 years, Alberto, and married him in 1961. Rosa was a stay-at-home mom to Angelo and Angelica Maria. Rosa was a quiet and gentle soul. She was always singing and loved cooking for her family. There were many special times together at Winnipeg Beach and family gatherings. Rosa loved to make her famous Italian Christmas cookies with Alberto a Santoro tradition. The thing that made Rosa smile the most was her four grandchildren who brought her so much joy as a Nonna. Rosa was predeceased by her parents Giuseppe and Carmela Missalino and sister Carmela. She will be sadly missed by her devoted husband Alberto; son Angelo (Lori); daughter Angelica Maria Searles (Ed); her grandchildren, Austin, Olivia, Liam and Jordan; brothers, Carlo Missalino (Salvina) and Vince Missalino (Donna); and many nieces and nephews in Winnipeg and Sicily. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday May 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave, with condolences and viewing to take place one hour prior. Interment will follow at Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosa's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
