RUTH VICTORIA RUFF (HALLMUTH) 1918 - 2016 After living a long life of loving, caring and of inspiration, the matriarch of the Ruff (Hallmuth) family and extended family passed away in her 98th year at the Fred Douglas Personal Care Home on May 24, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Adam; son Gary and son-in-law Ron Martin. She is survived by her daughter Geraldine Martin; son Wayne and wife Barbara and their son David (Kelly and children Jason, Derek) and their daughter Susan (Ron and children Kara, Stefanie, Emma) and daughter-in-law Betty Anne Bodanski (son Robert Ruff and his children Colton, Morgan and Madison), (daughter Robyne Ruff and her children Dylan, Mandy); as well as nieces, nephews and their children of both the Ruff-Hallmuth extended family have Aunty Ruth in their thoughts and prayers. Mom was truly our matriarch. Family was her focus! She constantly demonstrated that caring and love needed to be more than words but more importantly part of our daily human interactions. In her daily life she led by example as a wife, as a mother and family matriarch, as a respected employee at Zellers, Federal Unemployment Commission and as a friend to all who entered her sphere of influence. In retirement she and dad enjoyed the life of "snowbirds" in Pompano Beach, Florida and trips throughout the USA and Canada as well as a special safari trip to Kenya. Cooking, needlework, sewing, crocheting, and furniture upholstery were all done with precision and pride but these were only pastimes as she remained constantly connected to family and friends through cards, phone calls, visits, and life's celebrations. Her caring and love for others was always her focus and that is her legacy. Thank you to the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for reciprocating that love and caring. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 1:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue with interment at Brookside Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
