ROBERT (BLAINE) SWITZER It is with profound sadness in our hearts that we announce our loving husband, father, son, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin, colleague and friend passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his adoring family, on April 23, 2016. Blaine was born in Brandon, MB, grew up in Shilo and St. James and graduated from John Taylor Collegiate in 1971, and attended the University of Manitoba. He is survived by his Winnipeg family: parents Norman and Edith Switzer, sisters Norma and Maureen (Igor), brothers Perry (Janet) and Blair (Laurie), many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and by his Grandmother Irene Baker of Broadview, SK. He lived most of his adult life in Vancouver, BC where he met his loving wife of 33 years, Jennifer, and raised their family: Andrew (Kristen), Daniel (Tiffany) and Julie (Kelly). Blaine had a long career in sales and enjoyed his work and customers tremendously. With his sincerity, warmth and infectious ability to make people smile, he was able to make those he met feel like friends. He had a lifelong love for all sports and excelled at most anything he participated in. He shared his passion for sport with his children, instilling strong values of commitment and dedication as they pursued their chosen activity, and he loved coaching their hockey and baseball teams for many years. During his free time over the last 15 years he enjoyed refereeing adult hockey, developing many good friendships. With joy we will celebrate the wonderful life Blaine shared with us on Sunday, June 5 at 3:30 p.m. at Hycroft Manor in Vancouver, BC. He will always be remembered as a truly genuine man and will be deeply missed and never forgotten. For those who so desire, donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada would be sincerely appreciated: http://www.llscanada.org/
