DAVID JOHN REYNOLDS On Friday, May 27, 2016, David John Reynolds passed away at the age of 75 years. David leaves to mourn his passing his grandson Kevin Reynolds; granddaughter Lindsay and Kevin Cabral and their children, Talon, Olivia, Aubrie, Paige; brothers, Victor (Lorraine), of Portage la Prairie and Don (Pauline), of Grunthal, MB, as well as nieces and nephews. On March 22, 1941, David was born in Portage la Prairie. His father was overseas serving in the Second World War, so the first few years of his life, David had his mother all to himself. He attended school in Portage, where he excelled at football, hockey and became one of the top 10 air cadets in all of Canada, earning his pilot's license and developing a passion for flying. David met and married the love of his life, Patricia Reynolds and soon was blessed with twins, Keith and Kathleen. He worked at the Manitoba Pool Elevator, where he won numerous awards for excelling as a General Manager. The family lived in various communities around the province, his longest stay was his last placement at Deacon's Corner. After retirement, Dave and Pat moved to Winnipeg. The family enjoyed travelling, camping and spending time together. David refereed hockey and became an avid golfer, a longtime member of the St. Boniface Golf Club. The last years of David's life were not kind, as he was predeceased by both of his children, his wife, parents and parents-in-law. The last six months of his life, David was totally dependent on his brother Don (Pauline), as he fought cancer. A private family Graveside Service will be held in Hillside Cemetery, in Portage, June 11, 2016. The family would like to thank the Victoria General Hospital staff for their patience, expertise and kindness to David his last few weeks. Special thanks as well to Sandie Kliewer-Morin of WRHA Geriatric Program and Jere Tetrault and the staff of Smart Cleaners, your assistance was invaluable and was a highlight of David's last few weeks in his home. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I grew up in Portage with David. As I am older he was a rookie on the football team and also as an Air Cadet. However Dave was always keen and a excellent team player. David was also a member of the south side club. Had hoped to see him at one of the PCI reunions but it never happened and for that I am truly very sorry. • Dave and I both worked for MPE and knew each other by phone communication only, I had a change in my life and moved to Southglen Community in 2001 and met Dave, who was a resident there and many a time he would stop and ask how's life treating me and I reciprocated. I'd comment on his Windstar with a rattle and a joke and he'd smile and say, "come by as I have a few things for you to check", at his residence (lawn care, carpentry related/roofing etc.) He had a quiet demeanor and a big heart as we would speak of his family and things he had been going through. He will be missed and my condolences to his family for your loss , - Posted by: Brian Howard (Friend) on: Jun 08, 2016

  • Pauline and don Deepest sympathy in the loss of your brother/brother in law and golf pro. The pain and sorrow can not be imagined and I know the loss of a sibling... Thinking of you and will watch the stars tonight to see the beauty of a new one in the constellation above... Thatpat fraser - Posted by: Pat.fraser (Pauline's former associate ) on: Jun 07, 2016

  • Blessings to your great families. We had a rare opportunity to be of service to David. We had many laughs and chats about life while assisting in organizing and cleaning. David raised us all to a greater level of joy and appreciation for each moment we are granted... In respect and love forever, Jere, Sharalyn, Lil, Ally, Brenda, Matt. - Posted by: Jere Tetrault (Smart Cleaners ) on: Jun 07, 2016
