GILBERT ROY HRYSIO September 1, 1938 May 28, 2016 Peacefully with family by his side, at the age of 77, Gil passed away after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease at Holy Family Nursing Home. Gil will sadly be missed by his beloved wife, Marion; children, Marcy (Glen) and Jody (John); grandchildren, Jeremy and Jayden; brothers, Jim and Wilfred. Gil was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Margaret Hrysio; his brother Russell and niece Lynn. Gil was born in Lac Du Bonnet, Manitoba and raised on the family farm in the Brightstone area. He became employed by Winnipeg Hydro at a very young age, which was the company he also retired from at the very youthful age of 50. He met the love of his life, Marion, which he always referred to as "Marezie" and they married on July 17, 1965 and just recently, happily celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Gil's greatest passions included travelling with family and friends to several warm destinations, lively music, dancing to a good polka, hunting, fishing and puttering at all sorts of make work projects at his cottage on the Winnipeg River in Lac Du Bonnet, Manitoba. His 1985 Red S15 GMC truck, affectionately named "Truckie" was his pride and joy. Gil had the most wonderful sense of humor and the quickest wit, often making those around him roar with laughter. Gil had the largest smile in the presence of his two grandchildren, Jeremy and Jayden, the greatest gifts in his life. He would often tell them endless jokes and would tease and play with them as much as he could. Gil was very proud of his entire family and would do anything and everything to assist them in anyway possible. In September 2011, Gil moved into Holy Family Nursing Home, where he continued with his quick wit and humor and instantly became a very special and adored resident. Special thanks to the many staff of Holy Family Nursing Home who paid great care and attention to Gil throughout his entire stay. As per Gil's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home at 4477 Main Street in Winnipeg on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gracefully accepted in Gil's memory to Holy Family Nursing Home c/o LUBOV SSMI Foundation, 1085 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB. • My condolences on the loss of your husband, Gil. Your love and appreciation of each other was very evident as we both visited our husbands at Holy Family. I was always appreciative of the conversations we had during these times. I recall how he lit up when my granddaughter Peyton visited Maurice making it obvious how much he enjoyed the company of children. - Posted by: Lucille Rybuck (none) on: May 31, 2016
