Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAUBREY OSWALD VAN ALSTYNE Aubrey passed away May 28, 2016 at Riverview Health Centre (PCH), at the age of 89. Aubrey was born in Roblin, Manitoba, son of William and Elva Van Alstyne. He attended school in Roblin and later began a career as a baker until retirement. Over the years he owned bakeries and was a manager in Safeway Bakeries. His fruit cake and shortbread were always welcome at Christmas. Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling and visited much of Canada, U.S.A and Europe. They spent many vacations down south. In his younger days he was an enthusiastic curler and golfer for many years. Later in life he spent time watching and listening to sports. Many hours and proud moments have been spent with grandchildren and more recently great-grandchildren. Aubrey is predeceased by his parents; wife Connie; brothers, Jeff and Bill; sisters-in-law, Verna Hay, Bernice Hay and Margaret Hay and brothers-in-law, Charles Hay and Ronald Hay. Aubrey is survived by his daughters, Joy (Rob) Wilson, Nancy (Thor) Hovmand and son Murray (Brenda) Van Alstyne. Also surviving is sister-in-law Marilyn Van Alstyne; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Our family extended our heartfelt appreciation to all staff at Misericordia Interim Care and the Riverview Health Centre (PCH). As an expression of sympathy, please pay one forward give an act of kindness to another in memory of Aubrey and his life. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
