MARGARET ELLEN GUDMUNDSON Margaret lived her life for love of family and friends, Neither asking for nor wanting a return. Her days became a sunlit homily, With others' joy her joy and main concern. When we were ill, she also became sick; When we were cut, she, too, began to bleed. Of our oil lamp she was the wick, Drawing her bright flame from our need. Some say that such behavior is out of date, That self-fulfillment is the way to grace. But Margaret, without much choice, then chose her fate, Finding greater truth in an embrace. She lives on in the sparkle in our eyes: Laughing, quiet, gentle, loving, and wise. With deepest sadness, our mother passed away peacefully on May 28, 2016. Margaret was born January 15, 1926 in Fairfax, Manitoba. Throughout her years she found a sense of well-being, love, support, balance and personal nourishment by being surrounded with loved ones and watching life's ups and downs through the personalities and characteristics of those connected to her. She was the second child of John and Alice Baird and from her nurturing parents she learned to appreciate all human beings and the beauty of nature through animals, birds, trees, flowers, clouds, sunsets and other glorious sights. She was much loved by her sisters and brothers, Jim, Bob, Mary and Isabelle. Through the years the tight bond among the siblings strengthened and encompassed additional family members as marriages and births took place. We all know that strength and kinship through family unity was always a great source of pride. She lived through hard times and good times but always happy times. Margaret is dearly loved and remembered by her twin daughters, Donna and Diana. She was always so proud of her two grandsons, Daryl and Colin and blessed them with guidance and wisdom as they grew into young adults. She will be greatly missed by the one brightest light in her life, her great-grandchild, Cassandra. Margaret will be fondly remembered and missed by her numerous nieces, nephews, friends and her special friend Tracy. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Einar (1989), her brother Jim (2005) and her son-in-law Les (2009). Margaret had wonderful childhood memories and told great stories of family gatherings, school years, riding horseback, driving the buggy, catching gophers, farm life, town life and dances. Margaret was a woman who touched each of our lives in different ways. She was not just a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, or friend, but a mentor, a confidante, and someone who truly cared about every aspect of everyone's life. She was a warm person who made friends easily, and was always a great support to others who were in need. Whether you were a lifelong friend or a new acquaintance, she had room in her heart for everyone and she placed great value on friendship. She was an incredibly generous woman who lived her life with integrity and honesty. To honour Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. Thanks to the staff at Riverview 3E, your kindness and the great care provided was very much appreciated. Margaret will be greatly missed and always remembered. "Mom" You can only have one Mother, Loving, kind and true No other friend in all the world, Will be so true to you For all her love and kindness, She asked nothing in return If all the world deserted us, To our Mother we could turn. For those of you who have a Mother, Treasure her with care, For you will never know her value, Til you see that she is not there. To hear her voice, to see her smile To sit and talk with her awhile, To be together in the same old way, Would be our dearest wish today. With love, Donna, Diana, Daryl and Colin THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 783-7211 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsonfuneralchapel.com

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Will miss our frequent hallway chats that we shared over the years. In a building where most people are strangers to one another, it was always nice to see a familiar and friendly face. My condolences. - Posted by: Kevin Matthews (Neighbor) on: Jun 05, 2016
