GORDON (nee STEWART) April 14, 1926 - June 4, 2016 It is with sadness that the family of Irene announces her passing peacefully at the age of 90 years. Irene will lovingly remembered by her daughter Marilyn (Richard) Lysak, son Doug, grandchildren Craig (Monica) Lysak, Keith (Mary Alice) Lysak, and April Wright, seven great-grandsons, brother Clifford (Norma) Stewart, sister-in-law Olive Stewart, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Charles, and brothers Raymond and Gordon Stewart. Irene was a registered nurse for 53 years working primarily at the Misericordia Hospital after graduating in 1947. She married Charles that same year and were married 63 years before his passing. They enjoyed travelling together, Hawaii, Barbados, and New Mexico every year. They enjoyed playing cards and bowling, and Irene liked knitting, quilting, bingo, puzzles and baking. She was active in Charleswood United Church. The family would like to thank Vona and Grant Edgar and Maureen Hilditch for their care and compassion during Irene's more difficult times. A celebration of Irene's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. Irene will be laid to rest with Charles at Chapel Lawn.
