We always had a special relationship right from the beginning. We always seemed to know what the other was thinking. When we were kids, those two weeks we spent together with family almost every year were priceless. We would be exploring and talking with endless jokes. Camping trips to Lac La Hache were alway great memories. You and that "Hilarious" comment never failed to give me a laugh. Although we didn't see each much in later years, the phone calls were always where we left off. My visit to see you in Winnipeg was very special. You will never be forgotten, cuz. To share our personal joke. "20 LASHES" for leaving us too soon. Love you Doug. Ev, Don and family, on behalf of the Nicholson family our condolences on your great loss. I am devastated by Doug's loss too YOUNG!! - Posted by: Brian Nicholson (Cousin) on: Jun 11, 2016

Well Doug you are at peace and your pain in the past year or so has been lifted and you are free to fly like a bird. He was a very intense man with a dry sense of humor, but if you had the chance to chat and make him laugh, consider yourself a special friend. He was very honest about his cancer, so if you asked him how he was doing, you were sure to get this comment "what do you think, I'm dying" and leave you scrambling with a comeback LOL. The night before he passed on, I chatted with him and said, it's going to be OK and whispered in his ear one of his favorite lines "you knew it all along Doug" Peace to my friend. - Posted by: Marcia Cholakis (friend) on: Jun 11, 2016

Doug was a neighbour for many years, and was always quick with a joke or a wry comment. His good humour and solidarity helped me get through some tough times. I will always appreciate knowing him. His efforts might not have been recognized widely, but I know he worked hard for many years and helped a lot of young people. That will be his legacy. Condolences to his family. - Posted by: Kevin Krochak (Neighbour) on: Jun 10, 2016
