LORENCE MICHAEL YACIUK Peacefully, on June 8, 2016 in Gimli, Manitoba, Lorence Michael Yaciuk, husband, father and grandfather. He is predeceased by parents, Dan and Ethel and sister Gloria. He will be sadly missed by Carol, his wife of 52 years; children, Susan (Gino), Dawn (Scott), Leigh Ann (Harald), Jeff (Leslie); grandchildren, Colby, Virginia, Jonah, Cameron and Megan as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lorence was born in Sudbury, Ontario and lived throughout Dauphin, Winnipeg, Grosse Isle and Gimli, Manitoba. Lorence was a long time employee of MTS, retired since 1995. Throughout his life he volunteered on many committees and organizations including Gimli Waterfront Center (president), Silver Harbour Association, 4H Hunter Safety and woodworking instructor, Grants Lake Wildlife Association, a member of the Grosse Isle Hall and Telephone Pioneers of America. Dad loved to work with his hands and could master anything from simple crafts to building his own house. His countless hours of volunteer work benefitted many in the community and gave him the opportunity to meet new people and develop life long friendships. We will always carry with us his love and devotion to his family. From ensuring we had a real Santa for Christmas to long camping excursions in the summer, he always had his family's best interest in mind. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. in the Johnson Hall, Gimli, MB. Thanks to the staff at Dauphin Medical Centre and Gimli Hospital.
