IRENE GREEN (nee MOORE) It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Green, aged 88, on Tuesday May 3, 2016, in the River East Personal Care Home, with her family by her side. She is lovingly remembered by her children; Florence (Raymond Holland), Lyle Green (Terrie), Grant Green (Donna), John Green (Michele), grandchildren; Shaun Holland (Kim), Amie Green, Erynn (Shawn Vermette), Amber Green, Kate-lynne (Ryan Poirier), great-grandchildren; Cody, Emma, Jane, Owen, and Luke Holland, Ava, Maisa, Levi, and Everly Vermette, Aiden and Zoe Poirier, her sister Lila Budge, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Conrad Green, her parents Robert and Florrie Moore, sister Iris Keown, and brother, Robert Moore. Irene was a lifetime resident of South Transcona where she was involved in community activities. She especially loved to play cards and was a phenomenal jigsaw puzzle solver! Irene was an avid knitter and clothed many Barbie dolls for raffles to raise funds for the community club. She regularly attended church in Winnipeg. Irene trained as a hairdresser and worked until she became a mother. Mom loved babies and in the 60s, began to foster babies directly from the hospital until they were adopted. She was a very supportive, stay at home Mom, and was greatly appreciated and loved by her children. A celebration of Mom's life will take place on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway 1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg. A private inurnment will be held. We would like to express our thanks to the staff at River East Personal Care Home for the wonderful care Mom received throughout her stay. Special gratitude to the nurses on duty during her last three days, for the exceptional care that she and the family received from them.
