Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySOPHIE GAUTHIER (nee MAKAR) December 4, 1925 - May 27, 2016 Sophie died peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital in her 91st year. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Andrew; her siblings, Olive Lamont and Nicholas; and parents, Michael and Anna (nee Dankewich). She is survived by her children, Andrew (Margot), David (Lynn), Christine (Wayne) and cousins, Lorette Hamy (Norbert), Stephen (Gwen) Dankewich, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and five nieces and nephews. Sophie lived her life for her family and we are grateful to have had the benefit of a loving mother at home upon whom we could always count on for support. We wish to thank those long-time friends who kept in contact with our mom when she needed a touchstone the most and the staff at Riverview Health Centre who afforded her many kindnesses over the last five years. We also extend our gratitude to the Emergency Department and Surgical Team at St. Boniface Hospital for their timely, thoughtful and compassionate care in her last hours. In accordance with Sophie's wishes, there has been a private family interment at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Winnipeg, MB. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Sad to hear of Mrs. Gauthier's passing. Happened upon her obit while searching for Mr. Owen's (Tom-another Marjorie St. neighbour). Mrs. Gauthier was always the kind, smiling neighbour and family friend. Condolences to Andrew, David and Christine. - Posted by: Mike Fleury (former neighbour on Marjorie St.) on: Jul 05, 2016

So sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. So very hard to lose a mother. Janice's Mom passed on May 30 (Nell Beyko) as well. We have had a house full for the past week, now the dust is settling, and the realization of her is surfacing. Janice is taking it very hard. May they both rest in eternal peace. - Posted by: Zoltan & Janice Horvath (Friends) on: Jun 15, 2016

A parent that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts. Through us, they live on. Your Mother will be terribly missed. She will be cherished in our memories forever. My thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Leslie K (Friend of Christine) on: Jun 12, 2016
