MABEL MONA LOUISE ROEBUCK (nee GROUCHY) August 11, 1918 - June 10, 2016 With her family around her, Mabel Roebuck quietly went home to be with her Saviour on Friday, June 10, 2016. She will be greatly missed by her family and the many friends she made while living at Meadowood Manor. Remaining to forever cherish the memories of Mabel's life are her children, Donald (Lois) of Virginia; Ferne (Barry Thiessen) of Winnipeg; Weldon (Jenny) of Ottawa; Ernest (Holly) of Vankleek Hill, ON; and Sharon (Peter Schulz) of Winnipeg; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Wheaton of Winnipeg; 21 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren whom she loved individually and unconditionally. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank, of 66 years; son, Harold, and one great-granddaughter, Lily. Mabel was born in Glace Bay, NS. It was there that she met and married Frank in 1941. When Frank went off to serve in the Second World War, Mabel stayed at home to raise their first son. After the war, Frank became a pastor and Mabel happily settled into the role of a pastor's wife. They moved many times serving in the Maritimes, Quebec and Ontario. In 2003, Mabel and Frank moved to Winnipeg to be closer to their daughters. Mabel always ensured that she loved, served and encouraged her family. The family thanks the wonderful caregivers at Meadowood Manor who took such great care of Mom during her time living there. She loved and appreciated each one of them and thought of them as family. Mabel's Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Meadowood Manor Chapel, 577 St. Anne's Road, Winnipeg. Due to parking restrictions at the Manor all parking must be at St. Vital Arena, 580 St. Anne's Road. A family Interment will follow in Glen Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mabel's memory to the Meadowood Manor Foundation, 577 St. Anne's Road, Winnipeg, MB R2M 3G5. Celebrating a life well-lived and entrance to the kingdom. I remember being the recipient of apple fritters on a happy Sunday afternoon. Sympathies, thoughts and prayers to the family who will miss a wonderful mother and grandmother. - Posted by: Donna Ward (Friend) on: Jun 15, 2016

My dear Aunt Mabel had already earned her 'wings' while she was with us on earth. She was the sweetest, kindest, wisest, most giving and gentlest person. When you were with her you could feel the warmth and one always felt loved. I so enjoyed her stories and my visits were always rewarding. I will miss you Aunt Mabel and I thank-you for allowing me to be part of your life.. To all my cousins we send our condolences. I know you feel blessed to have Aunt Mabel as you Mom, grandmother, great-grandmother. RIP and give my love to Uncle Frank for me... - Posted by: Nettie Girden (Niece) on: Jun 14, 2016
