ALFRED JOHN HUEBERT It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred John Huebert after a courageous battle with leukemia. He died peacefully, at home, on June 18, 2016, aged 74 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marlene; children Michelle (Cameron) McCartney and Chris (Lorinda) Huebert; his five grandchildren, brothers Dennis (Judy) Huebert and Tim (Karen) Huebert; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Huebert, and son, Philip Huebert. Alf practiced law in Saskatoon for 22 years before moving to Winnipeg to become the Director of Stewardship for the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches in 1992. He retired in 2006 to enjoy his family, travel, and his many interests. His hobbies included lapidary, golfing, reading, and boating. He loved being out in nature where he communed best with God, especially at a lake or seashore. Alf will be remembered for his positive attitude and adventurous spirit. Public visitation will take place from 6:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 23 at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at Fort Garry Mennonite Brethren Church on Friday, June 24 at 1:30 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined due to allergies. Donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada or the C2C Network. We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Care team and the Buhler Cancer Centre medical staff for their excellent care of Alf.
