She is survived by close friends, Ronald and Patricia Gashinski and family as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Dorothy was born on February 19, 1913 in England and moved to Canada with her family when she was six months old. Her family settled into Kirkfield Park where her father built their first home on Parkhill Street. They later moved to Woodlawn Street and were members of St. Andrews Anglican Church. Dorothy served with the Red Cross in England during the Second World War. After the war, she returned to her family home until her marriage to Len on July 23, 1956. Soon after, she and Len moved to Fort William, Ontario (Thunder Bay), where they were members of St. Thomas Anglican Church. Dorothy also held a position as a Worthy Matron for the Order of the Eastern Star. Their marriage was full of social engagements, they enjoyed hosting dinner parties for friends in their Sills Street home, attending local theatre and playing bridge. Dorothy was also an avid gardener and enjoyed watching the robin that made its home above her clothesline every year. In 1990 they returned to Winnipeg to be closer to her ailing sisters. In their retirement years, Dorothy and Len enjoyed travelling overseas and to Messa for their winters. She was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church. She continued to enjoy playing the piano, knitting items for friends and family and receiving visitors well into her 90s. Following Len's death in 2001, Dorothy moved to Lindenwood Manor, where she made numerous friends with residents and staff alike. The family would like to thank everyone at Lindenwood Manor and Home Care for the care and companionship they provided to Dorothy for 15 years; she greatly appreciated their efforts.
