MABEL PRINGLE It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mabel Pringle, at the age of 95, on Saturday, June 11, 2016. Mabel was predeceased by her loving husband Alan Gordon Pringle in 1997; parents Mabel and David Jaques; parents-in-law Marion and Joseph Pringle; siblings David Jaques and wife Mildred, Joyce Oxley and husband Joe, brothers-in-law Lavern Olson and David Walker; brothers and sisters-in-law Joe and Lena Pringle, Norman and Pearl Pringle, and Peggie and Cliff Bannister; nephews Wayne Olson and Ken Walker, and niece Janice Jaques. Mabel leaves to mourn her passing her siblings Florence Olson, Kathleen Walker, Jack and Jeannette Jaques, and Ronald and Jeanette Jaques; son and daughter-in-law Gord and Susanne Pringle; daughter Marion Pringle; grandchildren Evan and Phoebe Proven and their family Lucille Proven, Oliver and Molly Altemeyer; Ayma Proven and her son Taner Proven and step-granddaughter Gena Proven and her family Ashley, Vicky (Eric), Kyla and Brooklynn Proven, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mabel was born on the farm close to Endeavour, Saskatchewan to Mabel and David Jaques on October 10, 1920. She was the second eldest of seven children. Mom enjoyed her childhood on the homestead as part of a large, loving family. Although she talked about walking long distances to bring the cows home and longer distances to go to school and working hard, she also talked about great friends and community gatherings, including the box socials and dances at "We Own It" Hall. Mom and Dad both loved to dance and throughout their lives were a couple to be envied on the dance floor. Mom worked at a number of retail positions over the years but she always said it would have been a joy to have been able to open a bakery. She was an excellent cook and baker with award winning apple pies and butter tarts to her credit. She was thoughtful and generous and always sharing loaves of bread, cookies and other delicious treats with all and sundry. Many family and friends have very fond memories of Mabel's culinary prowess. The story of the Pringle/Henderson butter tart eating challenge comes to mind. Family was of paramount importance to Mabel and she was always so proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved having everyone around for Sunday dinner, enthusiastically following each child's stories and watching them grow into fine people. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice. A private celebration of Mabel's life will be held at a later date.
