JUNE CATHERINE PICKEN Born June 26, 1938 With loved ones by her side, June passed away peacefully Saturday, June 18, after a battle with cancer. June was predeceased by her father and mother, William and Catherine; sisters, Doreen and Agnes; brothers, Jim and Bill. She is survived by her loving sister Mary; adoring and adored niece Shannon; and nephews, Daniel and Gordon, plus other relatives in Winnipeg, BC, N. Ireland and Atlanta, GA. June was a kind, giving and loving person with a great wit and sense of humour who, after working for many years at Supercrete, enjoyed travelling and keeping up with family. In her latter years, she found peace, comfort and friendship with fellow residents at 64 Nassau. Our special thanks to Eileen for her friendship, assistance and thoughtfulness and St. Boniface Cancer and Palliative Care. Cremation has occurred. At June's request, no funeral service was held. "Green was the silence, wet was the light, The month of June trembled like a butterfly." THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 783-7211 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsonfuneralchapel.com

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My heartfelt condolences to sister Mary and June's younger family members. I have known June since I moved to 64 Nassau in 2014. She lived on the same floor as myself and she made me feel welcome. She was kind, considerate and always had a smile on her face. I didn't realize she was dealing with cancer because she never complained about her pain so to find out from Mary that she died as a result of cancer was a shock. For June the pain is finally gone and now it time for her family to reminisce about the good times and accept that June is now at peace. - Posted by: Christine (co-tenant at 64 Nassau) on: Jun 26, 2016

  • I met June about four years ago and was struck by her ability to easily strike up a conversation and to make people feel comfortable. She was a very open person with not an ounce of pretentiousness - an open book and a good one, at that. She was always quick to smile and always so energetic. June was blessed with such a positive outlook on life and it came through in everything she did and said. My condolences to friends and family. - Posted by: Martin Cloutier (Friend) on: Jun 25, 2016
