DAVID WILLIAMSON 1928 2016 On June 27, 2016, David Williamson passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 87. David leaves behind his wife Joan and his sister Marion Peever. He is survived by his son Richard (Jo-Donna) and their children, Lindsay (Shaun), Melissa (Tyler), and Jennifer (Jeff); his son Bruce (Diane) and their children, Lana (Everett), and Andrew (Kelsey); and daughter Linda (Wayne) and their son Morgan; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Kade, Silas, Landry, Lukas, Leila, Georgia, and Jasmine. Dave was born to David and Marion Williamson in 1928. He grew up in Winnipeg attending Gordon Bell High School and living most of his adult life in East Kildonan. He worked for many years at James Richardson and Sons until his retirement in the late eighties. Throughout his life David was always an avid sports enthusiast and his children remember him spending many Saturday nights watching hockey and listening to football on the radio. Good or bad he was always a staunch fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Toronto Maple Leafs. David enjoyed his many years coaching pee wee hockey at Melrose Community Club and as a cub scout leader at John Black Church. He was always supportive in his children's activities and they all fondly remember the great times they had at Grand Beach. In his youth David was active in the Sea Cadets Bugle Corps Band as a Chief Petty Officer until his honorable discharge in 1948. After that he was enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy Reserve (HMCS Chippawa) until his honorable discharge in 1955. The family would like to thank all the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and attention through his last few days. At David's request a private service will be held. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Salvation Army or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 204-338-7111
