IDA A. BRIER Peacefully on June 26, 2016 at the age of 91, with her two daughters at her side, Ida left this world to join her beloved husband Jim. They were married on June 29, 1946 and enjoyed the next 63 years together. Ida was born in Viscount, Saskatchewan and moved to Saskatoon in her late teens. From there, Ida joined the Navy and was stationed on the east coast where she met her husband to be. Ida and Jim spent the rest of their lives in Winnipeg. During their retirement years they would spend many winters in Mesa, Arizona. There they met Gil and Alice who became lifelong friends. Ida and Jim always enjoyed their friendship and especially playing cards with them as often as they could. Ida will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Diana (Rick), Cheryl (Brian); grandchildren, Kelly-Ann, Tracy (Bob), Krista (Michael), Jim (Andrea) and great-grandchildren, Rachel, Kyle, Nathan, Jordan and Jeffrey. Ida is survived by her sisters-in-law, Evelyn and Dona and dearest friends, Rosemary and Murray. Ida was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Bertha Daoust; brothers, Eugene, Roger, Walter, Robert, Basil; sisters, Annette and Irene. The family would like to thank Ida's family doctor, Dr. Henry, home care services and Riverview Palliative Care Center for their wonderful care they gave to Ida over this past year. We would also like to thank Marlene, a volunteer from Palliative Care, for the many hours she spent visiting Ida. Funeral Service will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, on Monday, July 4 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made In Ida's memory to a charity of one's choice. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • It is with heavy hearts that we express our condolences to Diane, Cheryl and all of their families. We know you will all miss your mom/grandma/great-grandma terribly, but she will always be there for you, in spirit instead of body. Sharon and Terry were thrilled to have connected with her in the past few years. Seeing your mom after so many years helped us feel connected with our father again. Your mom was loving and welcoming and talked to us about the old days when she and her siblings were children. She also spoke of your dad, Uncle Jim, and bragged about her family and how loving they were to her. At 88, your mom already told us she was ready to be back together with her loving husband. We are happy to know she is now with him, and we are certain they are resting peacefully together. On the flip side, we are very sad to know that all of the Daoust siblings and parents have passed. We will always remember that through the years, your mother displayed love and affection to our father, his wife and their 4 daughters. Rest in peace, Aunty Ida. We love very much. God Bless your family. - Posted by: Linda, Sharon, Terry, Carolyn (nee: Daoust) (Nieces) on: Jul 07, 2016
