Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHEILA MAUREEN HAYWARD (nee O'BRYAN) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Hayward on June 23, 2016 at the age of 88. She passed away with her daughters at her side at the Victoria Hospital. Sheila was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Richard Kenneth (Ken) Hayward in January of 2016. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Maureen Fenwick (Duncan) and Darlene Hayward (Sharon), and her grandsons, Kieran and Tristan Fenwick. She was predeceased by her parents Agnes and Hugh O'Bryan; her sister Pearl (Wally) Sherwood; her brothers, Bill (Helen) O'Bryan, Norman (Betty) O'Bryan and Hugh (Gwen) O'Bryan. She will be missed by her sister-in-law Muriel as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Brandon in 1927. The family moved to Winnipeg a short time later and settled in Elmwood. In 1943 at the age of 16 mom began her career with the Bank of Montreal. She met dad at a church picnic in 1947 and they were married in 1952. Mom continued to work at the bank until Maureen was born in 1960. Darlene followed two years later. Mom returned to the Bank in 1976 and worked until retiring in 1987. Mom loved going to the Bank of Montreal retired group luncheons and seeing her many friends from her years of work there. Mom enjoyed retirement and the travelling that came with it. Mom and Dad travelled abroad, taking trips from Alaska to Australia. She also loved to go to Corpus Christi every spring with the other "snow birds". They made many friends in their travels. Mom also enjoyed our family vacations at Davidson Lake. Her favorite pastime was gardening and she was especially proud of her flower beds. Mom was passionate about crochet. She turned that passion into action, crocheting several blankets over the years, donating many to Children's Hospital. Her grandsons, Kieran and Tristan brought her the most joy, taking them on many outings around Manitoba. Mom and Dad lived in Windsor Park for nearly 50 years before moving into Seine River Retirement Residence. Mom faced some challenges and in 2015 went into interim care at the Misericordia Hospital before moving to River Park Gardens earlier this year. The family would like to thank the staff at the Misericordia Hospital and River Park Gardens for their kindness and compassion towards Mom. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice. Mom and Dad will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Chapel Lawn at a later date. When I am gone, release me. Let me go I have so many things to see and do. You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears, Be happy, we had so many years. I gave you my love and you can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown But now it's time I traveled alone. So grieve a while for me if grieve you must Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a while that we must part So bless those memories in your heart. I won't be far away for life goes on So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near with all my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and "Welcome You Home". For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Sheila was a wonderful and giving person. I appreciated her humour, wit and outlook. I fondly remember dinners together in happier times. She made the most incredible egg salad sandwiches for me on many occasions - a road trip without them was just not complete. Both Ken and Sheila were very kind to me. My sincerest condolences on her passage and in the afterlife I hope they find each other happily together again. - Posted by: Drew Fenwick (Former Son In Law) on: Jul 03, 2016
