Joan and I were classmates at Plum Coulee School until after high school when we went our separate ways. We reconnected again when she worked at the Misericordia Hospital in Winnipeg and I was there for surgery. She visited me every day after her shift. I had no other visitors and that meant a lot to me. Unfortunately we lost touch and only reconnected several years ago when she was unwell and living with Stephen. I sent many cards and letters to her there in the hope it would bring her as much joy as her hospital visits had done for me back in 1967.
