KATHLEEN MARGARET BARTON Peacefully, on July 7, 2016 with her family at her side, Kathleen Barton passed away. She was predeceased by her husband, Ivan in 2013. Kathleen is survived by her sons; Charles (Erika), Jeff (Karen), grandchildren; Caitlin, James, and Thomas, and great-grandchildren; Joey and Elliott. She also leaves to mourn her, her brother Derek and other family in Ireland and Zimbabwe. Kathleen was born on November 5, 1931 in Northern Ireland where she attended Teachers College, and later met and married Ivan Barton. She immigrated to Canada with her husband and family in 1956. In Winnipeg she enjoyed a long and rewarding teaching career. Retirement gave her more time to do the things she enjoyed the most, spending time with her family, gardening, and relaxing at Spruce Sands. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff on the 5th floor at the Grace Hospital, special thanks to the Rosie for her compassionate care and to Dr. Macek. With respect to Kathleen's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of her life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathleen's name can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
