Il est mort à la Plage Albert, son paradis terrestre, le 7 juillet à l'âge de 73 ans. Son dernier jour a été un jour parfait pour lui: une ronde de golf, travailler dans son jardin et ses fleurs, tondre la pelouse, manger un délicieux repas de côtelettes d'agneau avec de bons amis, du bon vin, et les Bombers qui gagnent leur partie. Marcel laisse à célébrer sa mémoire son épouse bien-aimée Rita Lécuyer (née Lemoine), ses enfants, Miguel (Roxanne), Nadine (Jackie), Roxanne et ses petits-enfants Vincent et Estelle. Marcel laisse aussi ses frères et soeurs, Henri (Claire), Gérard (Irène), André (Pat), Alice (Rosaire), Bernard (Lois), Paul (Diane), Rose (Ted), Ronald (Yvette), Cécile (Robert), Joseph (Yvette), Georges (Darlene), Diane (Gilbert), Maria, belle-soeur Eva (Lucien) et beau-frère André (Lilliane), et une multitude de neveux et nièces. Marcel était un homme heureux, reconnu pour ses éclats de rire qui faisait vibrer les murs, son langage parfois coloré, sa joie de vivre et son grand coeur. Il cherchait de vivre pleinement chaque jour avec sa meilleure amie et partenaire bien aimée Rita. Il jouissait du golf, le jardinage, les voyages, cuisiner et jouer aux cartes. Marcel a commencé sa carrière en éducation physique à l'école Précieux Sang avant de retourner à l'université pour compléter son B.A., B.Ed. Il a travaillé comme conseiller en orientation à l'école Pointe-des-Chênes et Précieux Sang. En 1980, il est devenu courtier d'assurances pour Imperial Life. Ensuite, il a établi sa propre compagnie Lécuyer Financial and Insurance Services. Il a continué à travailler avec diligence pour sa clientèle jusqu'à sa retraite en 2008. Marcel a aidé à établir la microbrasserie Two Rivers en 1998. Il était aussi partenaire dans la compagnie Propworks Inc. Marcel a oeuvré dans sa communauté pour défendre le droit des Franco-manitobains d'avoir accès à l'éducation en français et aux services en français au Manitoba. Il était président du Festival du Voyageur pendant deux années. La famille désire remercier les ambulanciers de Victoria Beach, Pine Falls et Selkirk pour leurs efforts inlassables et les membres de la GRC. La célébration de la résurrection aura lieu à l'église Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens, 289 avenue Dussault, le vendredi 15 juillet à 11 heures. MARCEL LOUIS JOSEPH LECUYER April 3, 1943 - July 7, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marcel Lécuyer. He passed away at his paradise on earth, at Albert Beach on July 7 at the age of 73. Marcel's last day was perfect; a round of golf, working in the yard, puttering in the garden, lamb chop dinner and mint jelly with good friends and good wine and the Bombers were winning. Marcel leaves behind to celebrate his memory his loving wife of 49 years, Rita Lécuyer (nee Lemoine), and his children Miguel (Roxanne), Nadine (Jackie), Roxanne, and grandchildren Vincent and Estelle. Marcel will also be dearly missed by his brothers and sisters Henri (Claire), Gérard (Irene), André (Pat), Alice (Rosaire), Bernard (Lois), Paul (Diane), Rose (Ted), Ronald (Yvette), Cécile (Robert), Joseph (Yvette), Georges (Darlene), Diane (Gilbert), and Maria, sister-in-law Eva (Lucien), brother-in-law André (Lilliane), and numerous nieces and nephews. Marcel was a happy man and will forever be remembered for his booming laugh, his colourful expressions, his joie de vivre' and his big heart. He lived his life to the fullest with his best friend and partner for life Rita, golfing, gardening, travelling, cooking and playing cards. Marcel started his career teaching physical education at Précieux Sang School and went back to university to complete his B.A./B.Ed. He worked as a guidance counselor at Point-des-Chênes School and Précieux Sang School. In 1980, he changed careers and went into insurance sales for Imperial Life. He branched out and started his own company Lécuyer Financial and Insurance Services and continued to work diligently for his clients until his retirement in 2008. Marcel was instrumental in the establishment of Two Rivers Brewery in 1998. He was also a partner in Propworks Inc. Marcel was very active in his community in defending French language rights. He fought for the rights of Franco-Manitobans to access French education and French services in the province of Manitoba. He was president of the Festival du Voyageur for two years. The family would like to thank the First Responders from Victoria Beach, Pine Falls and Selkirk for their tireless efforts and the R.C.M.P. officers. The celebration of life will be held at St. Martyrs-Canadiens Church, 289 Dussault Ave., July 15 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to Winnipeg Harvest, Francofonds, or a charity of your choice. His bright eyes and his smile will never be forgotten by those who were fortunate enough to have known him. I will miss our casual conversations when I was at my parents` cottage. C'est avec surprise et énormément de tristesse que nous avons appris le décès de notre bon ami Marcel, une amitié qui remonte à ses années de service comme conseiller scolaire à Ste-Anne, un poste qui lui a permis d'aider bien des jeunes de la communauté tout en répandant la joie autour de lui. Nous gardons de Marcel de précieux souvenirs, des souvenirs remplis d'humour et d'affection. Ses yeux souriants nous transmettaient sans équivoque la tendresse et la compassion qui l'animaient. Très chers Rita et enfants de Marcel, C'est avec beaucoup de tristesse que nous avons appris le décès de votre cher Marcel. Quelle joie de vivre qu'il vous a légué! C'était un bonhomme plein de vie; sa présence était marquée partout où il allait. Je me souviens de nos conversations Rita, lorsque tu nous parlais de Marcel et de vous deux en tant que couple. Une conversation qui m'a particulièrement marquée est quand tu disais que vous aimiez prendre des randonnées en voiture, côte à côte, jouir de votre présence même dans le silence. I first met Marcel when he started selling for Imperial Life and I was his client until his retirement. But I was more than a client to Marcel and he was much more than my life insurance salesman. My kids, now 29 and 28 remember Marcel`s annual visits very fondly; especially Yvonne, my youngest, who was struggling with a project on the stock market. Marcel helped her out and as a result she won the stock market competition and a tee shirt. My second youngest, Angie, has Marcel to thank for the fact that she is fairly well covered by life insurance because, in later life, due to illness she basically became uninsurable. We also have Marcel to thank for finding us a family doctor, Nadine, when Angie had to leave her pediatric care and was having trouble finding a family doctor. Marcel, we will miss your kind assistance, your wonderful sense of humour. If I regret one thing in our relationship, it was that we never got a chance to get out and play 18 holes at St. B. I was very young when Marcel would be at our house but I know the mood was always fun and light with him around. He was a good friend to my parents through thick and thin. He really supported us through Mom's illness and that I will always remember. Thanks for sharing your 'joie de vivre', Marcel. I am shocked to read of the untimely death of Marcel. He was a good man who helped me a lot in my first years of teaching at Précieux Sang. He had integrity, was passionate about kids and life and was always fun to be with. I have strong memories of his backgammon skills, ferocity on the football field and his leadership on the rights of francophones in the province. My sincere condolences to Rita and his family.
