Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ELIZABETH SPARVATH (nee MCFEE) Mary Sparvath, at the age of 104, peacefully went to be with the Lord, with her family by her side, at Red River Place, Selkirk on July 10, 2016. Mary was born in Sanford, MB on September 22, 1911 to Andrew and Adeline McFee. She went to school in Sanford and Stony Mountain. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Rosemary (Lyle) Hodge; granddaughter Alison Hodge (Dean); grandsons Owen Hodge and Curtis Hodge; great-granddaughter Ariana Hodge-Peterson; stepdaughter Irene Corrigal, as well as numerous step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband Jens; brothers, Albert, Richard (Dick), Hughie, Punch, Fred, Walter, and George; twin Sammy; sister Viva; stepdaughters Leona Olsen, Violet Edmondson, Rhoda Kunzelman, Edna McMahon, Doreen Campbell and Beatrice Hibbitt. Mary was a hard worker and before she married she ran her own housekeeping business in Winnipeg. Mary loved to travel and spent summers with her mother in Alberta, also travelling to British Columbia to visit her brothers. Once Jens and Mary married they both worked the family farm in Gunton. After many years of farming they moved closer to town. During their retirement years, they enjoyed their car, cruising around the area visiting family and sightseeing. After Jens' passing, Mary moved to Teulon where she lived for over 20 years. In May 2014 she moved to Red River Place in Selkirk, where she was given the best of care. The staff loved her sense of humour and affectionately called her "momma" and "trouble". They said she was a "bright spark" for them. Cremation has taken place. Celebration of life will be held in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, interment will take place at a later date.
