ROBERT JOHN (BOBBY) BERTIE It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle on July 11, 2016. Bob is survived by his wife and soulmate Candy, his daughter Shannon (Allan), son Johnathan (Nicole), his beloved grandchildren Alexis and Austin, sisters Carolyn "Bunnie" (Garry) Shedeck, and Donna (Hans) Gollar, brother Garth (Anny) Bertie, sisters-in-law Cindy (Stephen) Ostrom, Sandra (Vince) Commisso, Jodieann (Gilles) Mclean, and Laureen (Bobby) Spilchuk, brothers-in-law Curtis (Kay) Vezina, and Kenny (Anna) Vezina, father-in-law Roy Ballentine, mother-in-law Kathy Wood, numerous nieces and nephews, and all his beloved friends. He was predeceased by his sister Eleanor Lynn Bertie, father John Bertie, mother Alexia Bertie, father-in-law Jerry Vezina, mother-in-law Jeanne Ballentine, niece Natasha Commisso, and best friend Glenn Fontaine. Bob was the long awaited first son born in 1953 in Morris, Manitoba. When Bob was five the family moved to Lynnwood Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba were he created his childhood memories. In 1978 Bob's mom introduced him to the love of his life, the beautiful Candace Mary Vezina. Soon after they welcomed their first bundle of joy, daughter Shannon. A few years later they welcomed their much loved son Johnathan. Bob graduated from Red River College in architectural drafting, then developed a very successful career in the design/sales business. His career spanned over 36 years and included numerous awards and recognition. Bob had a great many passions in life. His green thumb brought him great pride in the summer months. He loved to travel around the city to different antique shops reminiscing of older times. Glenn, Bob's best friend introduced him to fishing which he surprisingly fell in love with; but nothing brought him more joy than to spend time with his devoted wife, children and in recent years his precious grandchildren. Being of a humble nature, Bob never realized how respected and admired he was in both his career and personal life. He will always be in our hearts and forever loved. Funeral service for Bob will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at the Never Alone Foundation - neveralonefoundation.ca For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Reading of Robert's passing has triggered memories of childhood. When I visited Auntie Katie, who lived a couple doors west of your place on 23 in Morris I would spend pleasant playtimes with Bunnie and Donna. I can still picture your Mom sitting on the couch, ironing clothes on her lowered ironingboard, in the evening while we watched TV. I still have a photo of Mrs Anderson's Sunday School class in which my sister Carole and I are pictured with you girls. Sincere condolences to your whole family. • Bob was our Thomasville rep and his prompt attention to customer issues made him and the brand a favourite to design with and sell. He was always helpful and so understanding! My coworkers and I really miss his excellent service and kind voice on the other end of the phone. My sincere condolences to Bob's family and friends. - Posted by: Leanne Sanders (Kitchen Designer, The Home Depot) on: Jul 28, 2016
