Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNELLIE BLACHER (nee SACHARKO) It is with heavy hearts the children of Nellie Blacher announce the sudden passing of their mother at the Betel home on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the age of 87 years. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Audrey, Marcia (Terry), Patricia (Don) and Peter (Charlene); her grandchildren, Bradley (Karolina), Michelle (Michael), Lisa (Dan), Chris (Becky), Jennifer (Ryan), Curtis (Hosai), Brittany (Matthew), Kyle and Kristen; and her great-grandchildren, Sophia, Dylan, Donovan, Hayden, Jordyn, Kallie, Coral, Osienna and Hannah. Nellie will also be missed by her brother Ephraine (Alice), sisters-in-law, Sylvia Sacharko, and Jean Stardoub and brother-in-law Nestor Rekunyk, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Steve, parents, Michael and Mary Sacharko, brother Bill Sacharko and sister Evangeline Rekunyk. Nellie was born in Rossburn, Manitoba on December 7, 1928. She married Steve on September 25, 1948 and they moved to Selkirk in 1958 where she resided until the spring of 2016. Nellie worked at the Exchange Cafe in Winnipeg, the Pernation restaurant and the Royal Canadian Legion in Selkirk. She loved to sew, knit, garden, play bingo, bowl and travel. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her favourite pastimes. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 269 Jemima St. in Selkirk, MB with Father Stan Gacek officiating. Interment to follow at the Notre Dame Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Brad, Chris, Curtis, Kyle, Dan and Matthew. Special thanks to the staff at the Betel Home for their kindness to Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lung Association of Canada or the CNIB. Audrey, Marcie, Pat, Peter and Families I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother/ grandmother. She was a wonderful woman with an optimistic outlook in spite of her medical problems. She had a warm heart and a great smile. Her family meant everything to her and I always enjoyed catching up on all of your news when I visited with her. I will truly miss her and share in your grief.
