ISABEL ELIZABETH MCMURCHY (nee COUMONT) May 3, 1933 - June 29, 2016 It is with great sorrow we mourn the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandma and Auntie, Isabel Elizabeth, aged 83 who slipped away after a long-fought battle with respiratory illnesses. We, her family, will remember her always; daughter Debbie and her husband Chris; their sons, Richard and Jared (Zolondek); son John and wife Marcella with their children, Kendra and Brandon (McMurchy); daughter Sharon and husband Lorne with son Jaxon (Craig); son Perry and wife Lisa with their children, Candice, Andrew and Jennifer (McMurchy). In her heart and ours are granddaughters-in-law, Danielle (Richard) and Caroline (Jared); grandsons-in-law, Andrew (Candice), Luke (Jennifer) and future granddaughter-in-law Alanna (Andrew); great-grandchildren, Sarah, Ethan, Lila-Rae, Charlotte, Odin and Joshua will miss Great-Grandma's joy watching them grow. We know she will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Isabel was predeceased by her parents, William and Elizabeth Coumont; 14 siblings and husband John (Jack) McMurchy. She has one brother Wilfred Coumont who makes his home in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Isabel was a prolific knitter and loved to crochet, her specialty being sweaters and ornamental dolls. Many enjoyed her feisty sense of humour and exchanging some quick wit. She was also well known as a fabulous cook and baker, with an adventurous spirit, who enjoyed her travels out west to visit family. Many might be surprised to know she also enjoyed snowmobiling in earlier days, Originally hailing from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, she arrived as a young child in the Selkirk area. When she married Jack, they lived and raised their children in Ashfield (Kirkness) near Lockport. In addition to helping run their cottage farm, she worked in a variety of industries, including food preparation and textiles and spent many years helping elderly residents at Middlechurch Home with her considerable skills in dietary services. She greatly missed her husband, parents and the family and friends who had gone before her. We believe she is welcomed in their arms once again, heading towards the western sun. Be peaceful and breathe easy you've done a great job, Mom! We wish to thank the staff at Betel Home and the doctors and nurses at Selkirk General Hospital for their care and generous kindness for her comfort. As per her wishes, a private funeral and Celebration of Life is planned for late August. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk is in care of arrangements. No flowers or donations please, though warm thoughts and smiles for her memory are much appreciated.
