CHERYL LEE JOHANNSON June 9, 1956 - July 13, 2016 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Cheryl Lee Johannson. After a difficult struggle with cancer, Cheryl passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on July 13, 2016. Cheryl will be so dearly missed by her husband Michael Mainman, sister Lory and George Hucul, sister Connie and Barry Lutz, and brother Kevan and Alice Johannson. She will also be dearly missed by nieces and nephews, Corrie (Jeff), Jody (Mike), Ashley, Jordy, Morgan, Taylor and Katelyn. Cheryl will miss the opportunity of getting to know her two great-nephews Braxtyn and Hayden. Cheryl will also be missed by Mike's family. Cheryl was predeceased by her father Albert and mother Shirley. Cheryl went to Sargent Park and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and went on to Red River College to complete her CAP degree. Her career in Information Technology spanned 35 years with 32+ years at MTS. Cheryl retired in 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed retirement. She swam, participated in Zumba, and golfed. Cheryl and Mike loved to cruise and were fortunate to share many cruises over the last several years. Cheryl enjoyed the planning aspect almost as much as cruising and spent a great deal of time at the PC planning the next adventure. Cheryl was a strong and independent woman. She had a strong work ethic and was a determined individual. She put everything she had into everything she did. She was a very engaging person and loved to meet new people. Cheryl was well liked by all she met as she had a quick wit, loved to laugh and have fun. Family Christmases will not be the same without Cheryl's games. The family would like to thank the staff at the 5th Floor Women's Hospital and the St. Boniface Palliative Care ward for the care and compassion they gave to Cheryl. We would also like to thank all the CancerCare staff for all their efforts through this difficult journey. The family graciously declines flowers, if you wish a donation can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, or a charity of your choice. Gone But Not Forgotten We sat beside your bedside, Our hearts were crushed and sore; We did our best to the end, til we could do no more. In tears we watched you sinking, We watched you fade away; And though our hearts were breaking, We knew you could not stay. You left behind some aching hearts, That loved you most sincere; We never shall and never will Forget you Cheryl dear. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
